HVCS Waterproof Version¶
Focus¶
The waterproof versions do not have the anti-hysteresis spring that the standard models have.
Warning
The waterproof version has a focus range of 3mm or 3 whole turns of the focus ring. It is important that you do not exert too much force at either end of the focus range. Too much force could damage the focus bush and allow water ingress and will damage the device.
It is recommended to practice moving the focus from one limit to the other and feel the resistance when the limit is reached. Look at the slot position relative to the focus bush to see when the limit is reached.

Focus at maximum depth. Note the focus bush screw is at bottom end of the slot and the probe cover tip is close to the probe tip.¶

Focus at minimum depth. Note the focus bush screw is at top end of the slot and the probe cover tip is a few millimeters away from the probe tip.¶

Focus in typical use. Note the focus bush screw is in the middle of the slot.¶
Replacing the Probe Cover¶
The probe cover will become scratched over time which will reduce the image contrast.
To remove the probe cover, grip the central part of the focus inner as shown below, using soft jaw pipe pliers. This is to prevent sideways strain and damage to the focus bush screw. Turn the Probe cover nut anticlockwise to loosen and fully remove.

Fully unscrew and remove the Probe Cover Nut.¶

Then pull out the Probe Cover and O-ring.¶
Push the new probe cover in fully. Fit a new 18mm x 2mm Nitrile / NBR / Buna-N O-ring. Screw the Probe cover nut on until meeting resistance. Make sure the Probe cover is still fully in position. Grip the central part of the focus inner using soft jaw pipe pliers and tighten the probe cover nut tightly by hand. Compress the O-ring by at least 1/4 turn. Make sure the probe cover is tight and cannot be pulled out.
Warning
If the Probe cover is not fitted correctly, water will leak in and damage the device!
Cleaning the Sensor¶

Remove the Body End Cap by unscrewing anti-clockwise.¶

gently clean the sensor with pure alcohol (isopropanol) soaked cotton bud.¶
Refit the Body End Cap until the O ring is touching then hand tighten at least another quarter turn, ideally a half turn.
Warning
If the Body End Cap is not fitted correctly, water will leak in and damage the device!
